|
Set-up and implementation Intranet |
| |
Requirement: The client plans to implement a company-wide
Intranet offering content management and workflow functionality as
well as a groupware solution. It is intended to outsource the entire
Intranet operation. A pilot project shall prove if the requirements
regarding functionality and operation can be met.
|
| |
Industry: Public Sector
|
| |
Client: Administrative unit (Canton)
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the client: KBC
consults the client during evaluation and is responsible for contract
negotiation with the chosen provider. A though but fair negotiation
strategy results in cost reductions of approximately 400000
Swiss Francs for the client. A firm project management guarantees
the set-up of the operating infrastructure, the availability of the
requested functionality as well as the start of the pilot phase in
time. Close co-operation with all pilot users assures the identification
of weaknesses regarding functionality, layout and design. After the
completion of the project KBC is again commissioned to head the contract
negotiations for the set-up of the full, productive infrastructure.
Additionally, KBC supports the client in the definition of necessary
processes and the set-up of an effective Intranet organisation.

Implementation HRM-solution |
| |
Requirement: A new HRM solution the canton has decided
on has to be implemented. Specific needs of the administrative unit
have to be met in development and implementation. A complex project
with several involved parties and factors which cannot be influenced
by the project management.
|
| |
Industry: Public Sector
|
| |
Client: Administrative unit (Canton)
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the client: The
project is stagnating when KBC is commissioned with the project management.
The project is immediately divided into several sub-projects. This
enhances the overview and facilitates the cost control. Throughout
the project, all parties, especially the future users of the application,
are involved in decision making and the settlement of the project.
A strict controlling of change requests and an ongoing co-ordination
with the project responsible on the cantonal level allow the timely
implementation of the solution as specified.

Strategy development for central IT services |
| |
Requirement: After the decentralisation of IT the central
IT services unit has to develop a new business strategy to play its
role as operational service unit.
|
| |
Industry: Public Sector
|
| |
Client: Administrative unit (Canton)
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the client: An analysis
of the status quo with special focus on future demands for IT services
and a comparison with other units in the public sector is performed.
Different models for a future strategy (organisational structure and
services) are developed and evaluated with regards to organisational,
personal and technical aspects. In just one month the client has all
the information they need to make a decision on the new strategy and
organisation of the central IT services unit. Especially, the different
models developed create transparency concerning financial, organisational
and technical consequences.

Development of IT strategy and optimisation of IT
organisation |
| |
Requirement: After outsourcing the IT operations, the
client needs to develop a new IT strategy which has to meet the requirements
of a new organisational framework.
|
| |
Industry: Public Sector
|
| |
Client: Administrative unit (Canton)
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the
client: An analysis of the effectiveness (impact of IT on business
processes) and of the efficiency of IT on a technical and organisational
level is performed. The IT mission statement is adapted and strategic
guidelines for the following areas are developed: application development,
purchasing, operating and project management. Based on our recommendation
the client decides to build up a business relationship with a second
supplier to ensure competition and to minimize dependencies on one
supplier. The project team works closely with the business units in
all phases of the project. This allows a speedy optimisation of the
IT organisation and leverages the acceptance of the IT strategy throughout
the entire organisation.

Feasibility study QM documentation on Intranet
|
| |
Requirement: The client is going through an ISO certification
process. The quality management documentation resulting from this
process has to be made available for everybody in the organisation.
The future Intranet is in the set-up phase, but it is not clear if
the new platform can be used to store and present this kind of information
in a user-friendly and effective way.
|
| |
Industry: Public Sector
|
| |
Client: Administrative unit (Canton)
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the
client: The requirements of the overall canton-wide certification
process for a QM solution and the expectations of the users regarding
an integration are analysed. Based on these findings a specification
is worked out and it is checked if the Intranet solution can meet
the specified requirements. Within a few weeks the study can be concluded
and possible solutions are presented to the client. The comparison
of various solutions provides the client with clear information concerning
technical, organisational and financial consequences and allows a
speedy decision.

Knowledge Management Survey (analysis)
|
| |
Requirement: After a merger the internationally operating
company intends to identify strength and weaknesses concerning the
generation, distribution, acquisition and utilisation of knowledge
and know-how on a group-wide scale.
|
| |
Industry: Chemical industry
|
| |
Client: Agro chemistry
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the
client: KBC supports the client in the conception of an online survey.
KBC consolidates and assesses the results of the survey. The assessment
analysis, and presentation of the results in a manageable form give
the client a clear picture about organisational, technical and cultural
barriers for professional knowledge management and knowledge transfer.
Additionally, the client is immediately aware of already existing
networks in the company. The results of the survey and the recommendations
of KBC allow the client to go further in the definition of a group-wide
knowledge management strategy.

client is forced to set-up a process for business process control
in a very short amount of time. It has to be evaluated if this goal
can be achieved with existing tools or if a new solution has to be
implemented.
|
| |
Industry: Public Sector
|
| |
Client: Administrative unit (Canton)
|
| |
Achievements and main benefits for the
client: The requirements for a technical solution for business process
control are collected and analysed. Based on this, a concept for a
solution is defined. Although, in this case a request for proposal
based on WTO rules has not to be performed, KBC initiates a request
for proposal on a small scale, based on clear guidelines and criteria.
In a very short amount of time, the client is in the possession of
three comparable offers and a speedy decision can be made. KBC supports
the client in the assessment of the offers and provides recommendations.
